How to translate this Spanish question...
Context: I'm reading a magazine about holiness.
¿Por qué no debemos vengarnos ni guardar rencor?
My attempt:
Why must we not take revenge on others nor harbor a grudge against others?
What English wording would you use? Is there a better way to do the Spanish translation?
Muchas gracias.

"harbor a grudge" is definitely correct, but I think "hold a grudge" is more natural.
Why should we not take revenge or hold a grudge against others?
Although I like "take revenge on others," I think the Spanish verb implies a sense of avenging ourselves which puts the focus on the self (the one seeking holiness) rather than on the other.
So I might translate it:"Why should we not desire vengeance and hold on to grudges?" Or even more freely: "What is the use of desiring vengeance and holding on to grudges?"
Why should we not avenge ourselves or hold a grudge?
(paco and sanlee are making me do this =P )
Why should we not take revenge or to hold rancor against others?
Otro:
Why should we not take revenge or hold rancor against others?
How about using "rancor"?
