'To make someone aware' in Spanish?

Question

I am looking for the right translation to say: But it is the only way to make them aware of the incapabilities of the civil servants, whom do not do their job right.

I was thinking about: Pero es la única manera de crear conciencia de la falta de capacidad de los funcionarios, que no hacen su trabajo correctament.

Instead of crear conciencia, could I better use dar prueba de/mostrar?

I would say:

Pero es la única manera de hacerlos dar cuenta de la falta de capacidad de los funcionarios públicos, que no hacen su trabajo correctamente.

I've heard "funcionarios" used to refer to employees in general so I would be inclined to specify "funcionarios públicos" if you're wanting to specify civil servants...

jesvw -- it's hard to say without seeing your full text but I would say "yes." After you've stated it once, I'm guessing it'll be obvious who you're talking about later in the text. - Capn_Spanish, Jan 2, 2015

here in Spain all the "funcionarios" are public workers, so if you say only "funcionarios,it´s OK. It´s said "funcionarios públicos" in a more politically correct way. - Josuele, Jan 2, 2015

Pero es la única manera que tomen conciencia de las incapacidades de los funcionarios públicos que no hacen bien sus trabajos

A very good learner, too. :) I'd say "es la única manera de que sean conscientes" and "manera de que tomen". You can also say "su trabajo", in singular. - Cordobesa, Jan 2, 2015

Puede que sea la única manera de llamar su atención sobre los fallos de los incapaces funcionarios públicos .
