There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Nunca sabía antes que la tradición de ir de casa a casa para cantar durante la Navidad (¿Hay personas que todavía hacen esto?) se desarrolló de una en que los cantantes exigía comida y bebidas alcohólicas (un budín navideño y un vaso de algo para alegrarnos) – y que solían cometer actos de vandalismo si no recibieron nada.
I never knew before that the tradition of going house to house in order to sing during Christmas (are there people who still do this?) developed from one in which the singers demanded food and alcoholic beverages (a figgy pudding and a cup of good cheer) and used to commit acts of vandalism if they did not get anything.
There is one Christmas song that I grew so tired of when I was teaching that I don't think I'll ever sing it again: "Jingle Bell Rock."

Un día menos pensado pensé que debo cantar y enseguida empecé a cantar en voz alta .. fue muy tarde y en la oscuridad había poca visibilidad y no se veía mas alla de unos pocos metros ... pero despues de unos minutos me dí cuenta de que tuve una audiancia, debido a la oscuridad no podría verlos claramente pero cuando los espectadores empezaron a cantar conmigo yo encontré que todos de ellos son burros ... pero algo es mejor que nada ,,, asi que ,, estaba alegre .. al menos tuve una audiancia..
One fine day I thought of singing and at once I starting singing loudly .. it was late and in the dark the visibility was poor, down to few yards.. but after a few minutes I realized that I had an audience, due to poor visibility I could not see them clearly but when they started singing with me I realized that I had all donkeys in my audience.. but something is bdetter than nothing so I was happy,, atleast I had an audience ..
