We are currently looking for a corrector for the Spanish sentences. If you are interested, please send me a pm. In the meantime, please help each other as you are able.

There are many native English speakers here, most of us can offer great suggestions to the English sentences. I will do my best to go through them all, too. Use today's Word of the Day in your own Spanish sentence (and include the English translation as well). Try to use the word in a completely new way and vote on the sentences you like best. The winner will be chosen based upon the correct use of the word as well as the number of votes.

Guidelines:

Write sentences at least 5 words long, but don't write a paragraph either. Write your Spanish sentence, but include the English translation as well. Make the corrections suggested by other users and moderators in the comments section (try not to use personal pronouns unless absolutely necessary). Use your own words! (Don't use a translator, copy from a book, use song lyrics, etc.) Please keep political, religious or personal statements to a minimum. This is a practice game.

Examples:

1. Jennifer cose casi toda la ropa que lleva. Es muy buena costurera.

Jennifer sews almost all of the clothes she wears. She is a very good seamstress.

2. Se piensa que los humanos han estado cosiendo desde el Paleolítico.

It's thought that humans have been sewing since the Paleolithic Era.

La mayoría de mi familia puede coser, pero no puedo hacerlo a pesar de tomado lecciones de costura con mi hija hace muchos años. Gracias a Díos mi esposo sabe coser un poco.

Most of my family can sew, but I can't do it even though I took sewing lessons with my daughter many years ago. Thank God my husband can sew a little.

Yes Sandy, that's what I meant (no sé) .. saber besides its other meanings also means "can" or "to be able to" .. poder is more appropriate while talking about permissions etc.. for example ,,, puedo usarlo ??(can i use it ??),, or no pude ir a la oficina - Joydeep_Singh, Dec 9, 2014

Be careful with "coser" and "cocer"! ie: Jennifer many times sews while she cooks, that´s why the food gets burned.

Sé coser mi propia ropa por si mismo como he trabajado en una fabrica de ropa como un gerente de produccióon hace muchos años y también he hecho un curso en la tegnología de fabricación de rop que se llamaba "Apparel merchandising and production management" ..

I can sew my own clothes (and others' too) as I have worked in a garment factory as a prodcution manager and with a buying house as an assistant merchandiser long ago, and have also done a course in garment manufacturing technology called as "Apparel Merchandising and Production Management" (AMPM).
