Flashcards: Other everyday Phrases

Today I studied the above mentioned Flashcards. In the first section, Recognize I got eighteen correct. I looked at my scores at the bottom. How come other students scored such high figures like five hundred or six hundred when the total for each word is ten points?

It is because the creator of a flashcard set has the power to edit his or her set in any way they want, and they can add or delete entries- if they delete entries it is no longer possible to score the amount of points that people scored who did it before the entries were deleted.

When somebody adds a bunch to a set it is also possible to make it appear that someone who did the set when it had fewer got a much lower percentage of them correct than they actually did.

And people can later correct things that make it so people can score better than those who missed something because the set was wrong when they did it.

Good explanation! By the way, I scored less than others but I never complained about it. Points can be earned elsewhere. - Raja-jani, Dec 7, 2014

This set now has 20 words, so the most you can get on each catagory is 200 or 600 for the entire set. You have to do the recognize, listen and writing section for each flashcard set.

In an individuals set, they may have edited the number of words, so the previous scores may be higher, and that is obviously the case here. .

You just need to do the other sections of the set to complete it.

Hope this helps.

Sandy - the max for each section is 190 - 10 points each correct answer - so how can anyone get 600+ for any of them? - ian-hill, Dec 7, 2014
Yes, I know you must do all sections, but I got 185 points in recognize section, others gained between five and six hundred points. This is confusing. Thank you for replying - seabear, Dec 7, 2014
Perhaps we should investigate. - rac1, Dec 7, 2014
When the person first made the flashcards, they had more in the set. Later they edited and removed them for some reason. That's all that happened. Sometimes I have edited a secion of words out, or put them in a new flashcard set. - sanlee, Dec 9, 2014
The previous greater answers would remain, but the subsequent answers would be a smaller total. - sanlee, Dec 9, 2014
It started out with more words, but now has less. Does that make sense? - sanlee, Dec 9, 2014

I just did the "recognize" section of that one (the one Ian linked to) and scored 189 points, but the points never showed up in my points total. Is there a reason for that or is it a glitch I should report through feedback?

I just did it and got 190, and it gave them to me, including in my total. Were you logged in, had you ever done it before, did it say it was not recording for some reason? - bosquederoble, Dec 8, 2014
Please let us know if it ever gives you the points after you are sure you have done as Bosque has suggested. You should be getting your points, if not, I can report it for you, or you can. :) - rac1, Dec 9, 2014
I was logged in, and I'd never done those before. It showed the points at the bottom of the leader list, but they still haven't been added to my total. I've had points added since then, so the problem seems to be limited to that set. - AnnRon, Dec 9, 2014
Look on your points on your profile. It will show it there. There have been so many people that have done that set, that it will not show in the part of the set that shows. - sanlee, Dec 9, 2014
The leader board only seems to update a few times a week - sanlee, Dec 9, 2014
It's in my profile that the points weren't added. They showed right away on the leaderboard for that set. It's really not that important if it's just me and just that one flashcard set that is affected. - AnnRon, Dec 10, 2014
