Because some people have never heard of the proverb "knowledge does not take place". Should I refuse to learn anything about Australian English? Should I just learn British English because the United kingdom is closer to Spain? In a globalized world like ours, it's really difficult not to come across people from all over the world. I don't know about you, but in just one day I can read a few pages from a Scotish book, talk with an American friend, take a look at a Canadian website, listen to an English song, and laugh with my friend Ray76's comments in SD, and everything without leaving home. And, without a doubt I love being able to understand all of them! ¿No os pasa lo mismo a vosotros?

Well, I happen to be Spanish, and I really miss the "vosotros" form. It drives a Spanish dad "nuts" to call his kids: "Felipe, Susana, Enrique!" "¡Vengan! En verdad esto no tiene nada de sentido. A los hijos se puede tutearlos individualmente , pero cuando están juntos en un grupo el papá tiene que dicerles "** ustedes**!! Es una locura.

Me he acostumbrado al uso de "ustedes" cuando debe ser "vosotros" pero todavía no me gusta como suena.

No estoy segura de que se emplee el vosotros en SudAmerica, pero he oído que en algunos lugares es así.

I hope I haven't made anybody mad at me here, but one just has to realize that you just can't throw away a piece of the language. When Aussies call everybody "mate" it sounds sort of cute to me. And that's just one of the things that Aussies do that sounds cool to me. I teach my students the Vosotros form just to acquaint them with it, I don't test them on it, but they can all use it if they happen to become friends with Spaniards.

End of rant.

Yes in Latin America It is only used in church because you can find this word in the spanish Bible with its respective cojugation form, in Spain is commonly used.

Personally I think all should learn it; if you ever want to chat with a Spaniard or read a book written in castilian, you'll find it and its conjugations are really very common; you don't address your friends, classmates, kids or people who are being rude to you with 'ustedes'!

I know some people will tear their clothes and throw dust in the air, but, I say.... If you're not going to use it, why learn it? I say that a "little" tongue-in-cheek.

My experience in Spanish has been mostly with Colombianos, Peruanos, Costarricenses y Mexicanos, and the vosotros form just isn't used ...... your mileage may vary.
