New Idea - Sentence of the week.

Question

We have the Word of the Day and the Picture of the Day.

This is another idea suggested by a regular contributor on SD.

The suggestion is to post a sentence and ask for an explanation, in English and Spanish, for what the writer meant when writing it.

This one is not my creation as you can see.

So - what did Voltaire mean with the above?

We have no official Spanish corrector for this challenge - so help out where you can.

The quote is widely attributed to Voltaire, but it seems that it actually belongs to a Neo-Nazi activist named Kevin Alfred Strom who was promoting his anti-semitic views. Too bad. There is probably some truth in the quote, but I have no sympathy with Strom's agenda.
