There are various ways to deal with "fun" in Spanish.

First of all the noun "diversión" is "fun"

To have fun is stated several ways. I will give two.

"divertirse" (to have fun) Me divertí mucho en la fiesta. I had fun at the party.

"pasar un buen rato" Mi hermano Pepe también pasó un buen rato en la fiesta.

My brother, Pepe also had fun (or a good time) at the party.

A shorter way of the above:

Todos lo pasamos bien en la fiesta. We all had fun (or a good time) at the party.

(from the expression "pasarlo bien")

Wow! What a party! Woo, woo!

By the way, welcome and "have fun" here on SpanishDict.

Lo mismo que la diversión en Inglés.

Puede tener diversión sin reír , ¡ Pero ten cuidado!

The same as fun in English.

You can have fun without laughing* ,but take care!

Ray, the only thing I forgot to say was that "divertido" can be used as an adjective, like: "Eres muy divertido." You are a lot of fun-"-and you are :) - Daniela2041, Dec 1, 2014

Hello Cheerchick

Welcome to the SpanishDict forum smile

You asked:

What does" fun" mean in spanish ?

(Please use correct punctuation eg: capital letters and interrogation marks (?) , because we are an educational site and people copy our English and Spanish !)

The word (noun) fun in Spanish is diversión Please follow link to see how it should be pronounced: enter link description here When you have reached page you can click on the microphone icon to the right of the word to hear a native pronounce the word! wink

and It comes from the Spanish verb:

divertirse = to enjoy oneself /To have fun

¡Qué te diviertas! = Enjoy yourself ! /Have fun!

The word divertido can also be used to mean funny as in amusing

ex: ¡¡Qué divertido! = How funny!

I hope this helps smile

Corrijan mi español, (si necesario) por favor smile
