I want to say sorry to my penpal for replying late because I had been busy.I don't know how to address it.

will "Lo siento así" make any sense in this context?

If you want think and reply in Spanish, it could be: "disculpa mi tardanza".... - Mariest, Nov 24, 2014

Hi, was your penpal late, too?

Then you can say "Lo siento tambien".

Otherwise, if only you were late, "Lo siento mucho" could be enough.

'Así' means 'so', but not in the sense 'I'm so sorry' (meaning 'very').

It means 'so' in the concluding sense: 'so (that is why) I am sorry..' (put 'así' in front!) or in the sense 'like so' (in this way).

If you say 'lo siento así', it sounds like you didn't finish your sentence: I'm sorry, so~...... so forgive me already, I apologised, damnit! - is a possible interpretation. or: I'm sorry, so~...... what now? :( are we still pen pals? etc. etc.

For 'I am sorry, too', consult sanlee's answer. smile
