Unless you're writing a colloquial dialog, on a language web site like this it is best to use the standard spelling even if it isn't pronounced that way: "I want to" "I'm going to" "I should've" etc. Thank you. - Jubilado, Nov 21, 2014

Quisiera conocerte. Spanish is not quite as "wordy" as English.

I read your post about the five weeks to master the subjunctive. But this is an example. Why the imperfect subjunctive here for something that is clearly a present or future desire? - gringojrf, Nov 21, 2014
I would have used querría. - gringojrf, Nov 21, 2014
A few verbs can be used in the imperfect subjunctive where the rules of grammar would call for conditional, and quisiera is used quite commonly for would like, although you would never do that with me gustaría- that is always conditional when it should be - bosquederoble, Nov 21, 2014
Thank you, bosque, I was wondering how I was going to answer that. - Daniela2041, Nov 21, 2014
I knew about the possibility to replace the formal conditional with the imperfect subjunctive, but I didn't know it's only possible with some verbs,(though indeed I wouldn't with gustar) does anyone have a list, perhaps? - Suzanne_Romijnders, Nov 22, 2014
Yes, Quisiera was in my Nexos Spanish textbook as I'd like + infinitive - sanlee, Nov 22, 2014
