Actually, except for the question marks which went slightly askew, it's OK. If you raise your voice at the end of the question, ¿Mi madre es bonita?
It means "My mother is pretty? ( the semantic kick here is, "Do you really mean that?)
The better way is to ask "¿ Es bonita mi madre?" "Is my mother pretty" In this case you are gently asking an opinion.
