How would I describe someone controlling someone mentally (begging them to stay with them, apologizing for their mistakes, making them feel guilty to not be in a relationship with them)? Would "mentalmente" be the right word?

También, qué tipo de control ocurrió cuando un hombre físicamente cierra las puertas para que ella no pueda escapar? Sería el control "físicamente"?

If you said "Él la controla mentalmente" it sounds like a science fiction film.

In Spain the behavior that you said is called: "Maltrato psicológico", but this is in the extreme and is a crime.

Maybe a spanish speaker would say "Él la controla", and the way that he is controlling her must be explained adding more sentences.

What about verbalmente? - dyruse, Nov 6, 2014
Abuso verbal could be used but in general. If the action comes from a man against a woman there is an specific vocabulary - txustaboy, Nov 6, 2014
