The use of estar and ser

The use of estar and ser

Did I write this sentence correctly the only thing I was not sure is if I should have uses "estar" or "ser" but I used "estar" because from the spanish I do know "ser" sounds like it would be a contradictive statement and would not make sense because isnt" ser" used for permanent and "estar" is temporarily or something like that? and I was saying sometimes not all the time and that's why I used "estar"

"Algunas veces los chavos pueden estar molestos pero son un regalo de dios"

Do not ever think permanent and temporary, it fails frequently

Better is – a characteristic vs. a condition- with the idea being that something like death, as permanent as it is, is not a characteristic, it is a condition. But you still have to learn what Spanish speakers consider to be a condition and what they consider to be a characteristic

Molesto means something different with ser and estar (just like aburrido does)

Ser molesto- be annoying (it’s a characteristic, even if expressed only at times, that's just how they are at times)

Estar molesto- be annoyed (it is a condition, a mood you’re in)

What do you think? :) - rac1, Nov 4, 2014
I guess I was supposed to use ser - Sc89, Nov 4, 2014
Unless you were trying to say they are annoyed sometimes, that would be the logical conclusion. ;) - bosquederoble, Nov 4, 2014
do I leave the s at the end of molestos ? - Sc89, Nov 4, 2014
Yes. It is still plural. ;) - bosquederoble, Nov 4, 2014
