Por favor, ayudame:

Mi coche no arranca, tiena la batería gastada/ desgastada?

I have to ring for help in the morning, I will need a ' jump lead' from another car.. What is the best way to say this? Necesitaré otro coche para hacer un salto eléctrico?

Perfect. I couldn't think of ' paras corriente' Many thanks! This will help no end if I can't get enough extension leads to charge it up myself.. - annierats, Oct 31, 2014
You are wellcome! (pasar corriente) :-) - LuisCache, Oct 31, 2014
Sorry, typo. Thanks again. - annierats, Nov 1, 2014
Local (Texas Spanish) dialect: "La batería no le funciona." "La batería ya no sirve." And jumper cables are "cables de puente" or "pasacorrientes." - Paralyse, Nov 1, 2014

*In case you aren't able to figure it out, here's a do-it-yourself kit.

Sorry about your car.

ray is probably waiting in a bar, just behind those bushes, Katy..And yes, he wears one of those Aussie hats! Without corks, sadly. - annierats, Oct 31, 2014
Jajjajaja. Hope your problem is a distant memory by now. - katydew, Oct 31, 2014

Battery = batería or pila, depending on where you are.

Dead Battery = agotado or muerto, again depending on where you are.

Jumper cables = cables de puente

Mi coche no arrancará = My car will not start.

Annie I know you can take it from here.

PS sorry about your car.

Good addition. - katydew, Oct 30, 2014
"Pila" is a small battery used in flashlights, camaras, etc, but not in vehicles - 005faa61, Oct 31, 2014
Thanks Gring, I didn't know cables de puente. Julian, pila can be large here but both are understood. - annierats, Oct 31, 2014
Julian, here batería is more common but some people use pila. I think of a pila as a single cell battery like you mention and a battery has 6 pilas in bate/ia. - gringojrf, Oct 31, 2014

Hi Annie

Maybe " reactivar un coche" - jump start a car.

or

jump-start verbo transitivo / arrancar haciendo un puente a

I can't find jump-lead anywhere.

How was Ray today? smile
