"My family and I liked the beach"

"My family and I liked the beach"

So I am writing an essay in spanish that should mean "My family and I liked the beach", and my teacher pointed out parts that were wrong, but didn't say what was wrong with it. My sentence is "Mi familia y yo nos gustan la playa.."etc.

She said I am missing a word in the beginning, a word after the "y", that the "yo" is an incorrect word, and the "gustan" is the wrong conjugation.

So I figured out that "gustan" should be "gustó", but I can't seem to figure out the rest.

Would anyone be so kind as to help me with the rest? I need: - the word in the beginning - the word after the "y" - and the word to replace "yo"

Thank you!

Lets see if i can offer some hints:

First : how would you say " to me" in spanish? that is what should be used in your sentence.

Second : the verb "gustar" has a special personality, and wears only one "suit" for all persons when it is conjugated.

With gustar, the beach is the subject, you and your family are the indirect object- the beach was pleasing to you and your family. So you need a personal "a". The word order typically with gustar is object verb subject, not the typical subject verb object.

A mi familia

Next, because A is a preposition, it needs to be to me, not to i- the correct pronoun for the preposition is mí.

A mi familia y a mí nos….(note mi vs. mí, one of each, not interchangeable)

To my family and to me the beach was pleasing.

You need a past tense- gustó is we liked it that one time, it is over, it is in the past.

Gustaba is more like we used to like it, we were liking it, without so much of the sense of it being over.

So your choice there depends on context.
