How would you translate:

"He could almost touch the stars" "Then, he realized that he missed going to the park. He missed his doghouse and family"

"Él podía casi tocar las estrellas" "entonces se dio cuenta de que extrañaba ir al parque. Él extrañaba la casa de su perro y a su familia".

Carolina1393 gave you a perfect translation but in Spain (at least in the south) we do not use the verb "extrañar". This verb is most common in south America. I say:

"Casi podía tocar las estrellas, entonces se dio cuenta de que echaba de menos ir al parque, echaba de menos su caseta (de perro) y a su familia"

I omitted the subject "el" because in spanish we used to do that.

English corrections: "...because in Spanish (capital letter for all language names) that is the way we do it." - Jubilado, Oct 29, 2014

Casi casi podía tocar las estrellas pero en aquel momento se dió cuenta de que se estraña/echaba de menos ir al parque y que echaba de menos su kenel(casita de perro) y a su propria familia.

Free translation? XDD. A few mistakes: 1) extraña not estraña, 2) kenel is not a spanish word and 3) the reflexive "se" before extraña left over. - txustaboy, Oct 29, 2014

Él podría tocar casi las estrellas. Entonces, se dio cuenta que echara de menos ir al parque. Echó de menos su caseta del perro y su familia.
