Es un concurso para hacer la cruz más bonita, , con flores, para que podamos cruzificar a Jesús de manera menos fea. El concurso se celebra en Córdova, en mayo.

Probably a bad guess.
My other bad guess would be like crossing your fingers. But I am sure that is not correct.

Well, when you put two pieces of wood together, perpendicularly and in the middle of each piece, you've made a cross. (Sorry, I couldn't resist.).
