I am writing a resume and I have a catergory heading for volunteering to state all of the volunteer jobs I participate in. How would you say volunteering, not as a verb, but as a noun?

As a Spanish native speaker, and if were writing a resume, I would use either Voluntariado, Trabajo Voluntario o Servicio Voluntario as a heading. Probably, I will choose the first one, because it is more precise.

And then, I would list the activities below the heading

As a heading you can use "Servicio voluntario" or "Servicios voluntarios". Although, "Trabajo voluntario" will also work fine.

The word "volunteering" in English is a noun, but it is a noun made from the present participle of a verb, this is called a gerund in English.

In Spanish the gerund is made by using the infinitive form of the verb instead of the present participle. That is a grammar lesson.

After reading this: Volunteering

I'm thinking that you might want to use servir como voluntario or voluntariado porque como dice Inez_pez: la traducción correcta de volunteering en realidad es "voluntariado".

So if you are using the Spanish word ofrecer with the noun ayuda for volunteering you could write something like Paso tiempo en cada semana a ofrecer ayuda I spend time each week volunteering, you can use the infinitive.

As a heading you can use ofrecer ayuda for the subject of that portion.

I am not a native speaker so you may want to wait for an answer by one of them. You can check the qualifications of each person who answers by clicking their avatar and reading their profile.
