Hi Everyone,

I just witnessed a very interesting use of the pronomial Hacer in a book and thought of sharing it with everyone.. If you all might like to contribute more examples kindly feel free to do so in everyone's common interest. Thanks

No puedes hacerte ni idea de lo bien que he pasado las vacaciones.

English Translation : You have no idea how great my vacation was.

Regards Jimmy

Welcome Sir :) - Joydeep_Singh, Oct 18, 2014
After reading this, I kept thinking of "Have yourself a merry little Christmas". I still can't get the tune out of my mind. But then I know that it can't be translated with "hacerte". Ah, well..... - Jacky658, Oct 18, 2014
I think even that can be translated with hacerse ... que tenga/hagase feliz navidad - Joydeep_Singh, Oct 19, 2014

This is the closest I can get to an explanation. From the dictionary:

Hacerse a una idea = to get used to an idea

You can't accept (get used to) the idea of how great I time I had on my vacation.

With the addition of "ni" I think it means (literally): "You can't get used to not even an idea"; therefore, you have no idea. Good answer! - Jubilado, Oct 18, 2014
