What is the proper or correct response to muchos gracias?

I normally use:

De nada

or No hay de que

Here are some other options:

No hay de qué.

No tiene(s) de qué.

Fue un gusto.

Fue un placer.

But "de nada" is the most usual.

Here is a thread that discusses whether the "que" should carry an accent or not. I don't know the right answer.

In most situations: De nada.

In shops or bars, when you pay, saying 'gracias', the owner will invariably answer ' Gracias a usted/ Gracias a ti'.
