IO for experience / participation

I found this grammar notice in a papar:
The IO can indicate EXPERIENCE / PARTICIPATION: Les salió de maravilla.
How can I translate this sentence to english?

@benjon2 "les" is indirect object pronoun, but "them" in your translation is direct object pronoun. I also refered to spanish dictionary. "Salir" is intransitive verb that cannot use direct object pronoun. So why should it be translated with IO?
