Llevaron al herido al hospital (I think this is wrong )

Hi Friends.

I read a sentence in a book today "Llevaron al herido al hospital" ... They took the injured man to the hospital..

The problem I have observed with this sentence is the use of al( a+el = al) ... Now, as far as I know, the verb llevar doesn't take any preposition like many other verbs like IR, llegar, jugar etc. do (for example .. voy a la escuela,, llegue a la escuela a tiempo, juego a futbol todos fines de semana.. etc. ) but using the verb llevar ... some examples can be : Llevo una camiseta roja ahora .. I am wearing a red T-shirt right now, si te llevas cinco kilos te hare un discuento, if you take 5 kilos I will cut you a discount, llevo mi hija a la escuela todos las dias y recojola tambien... I take my daughter to the school every day and I pick her up aswell) ..

So if we look at the above example of llevar we don't see any preposition following the verb llevar .. but I was kind of surprised to see this sentence in this book as it does use the preposition "a" (al), In my opinion it should be "llevaron el herido al hospital" and it could be a typing error ..

Can some expert kindly look into this and tell me if I am correct or is the one given in the book correct ..

Kiwi, Pablo, Chileno, Emily, Annie, Bosque, JC and other friends .. please share your valued suggestions .. thanks Thanks Jimmy

If the wounded person is a human being, I think you should grant him the personal 'a'. wink
