How to say "I was just showing you!"

How do I say "I was just showing you!" meaning that all I was doing was showing something to someone and nothing else.

I would say: Sólo te mostraba algo/o sólo te mostraba una cosa

= i was only showing you something (like a stamp album or a new car, bicicyle etc..)..

Or , if you mean showing you in the sense of teaching you something, eg: a new skill, I would say

Sólo te enseñaba algo = I was only showing (ie: teaching) you something.

You could also say; I was only (simply) trying t show you something:= Solo trataba de mostrarte una cosa or Solo trataba de enseñarte una cosa.
