Flashcard Disapproval

Question

While browsing through some of the User-Created Flashcards, I noticed a few that are extremely offensive and definitely in no way user friendly. I also noticed some that were so inaccurate, it was almost comical (like Como esta = That is strange).

Is there any way to Flag flashcards? I couldn't see any options for that.

What you can do is send this to feedback. It would be a good idea to let the admins. know. I don't think there is any way of flagging flashcards. As far as the accuracy goes, when you check on the "user sets" there is a warning about it.

Years ago amigo I and a select squad of other members spent many many hours checking flashcards for offensive material and grammatical errors.

We deleted / corrected 1000s of them.

It is no longer possible for us to do that.

I am not sure who can delete or correct them now - maybe only the poster. (owner)

I suspect I saw the ones to which you refer a few days ago. To my knowledge, there is no way to flag those. It might be a good idea. If people want cards to learn that kind of language, they do not have to make their cards public, when you create cards the default is private, and you have to purposely set it to share for other people to see them.

The correctness is a separate issue, and for the most part, in order to have a system that allows people to make their own cards, we have to put up with that- I have heard of battles at sites where other people (mods) can edit cards, and then edit the cards in a way that makes the user unhappy. I just take a quick glance and if it mostly looks good, I will do them, but sometimes then I run into subtle errors that I did not notice on the quick glance.

I have seen cards with Turkish, Dutch and other languages. I have seen cards with definitions of English words, or science homework. It might be scary if we could see what is on the ones people don’t choose to share.

I think the moderators here could pm the individual and threaten to ban him if he doesn’t make those cards private, and you can pm a moderator with the link in the absence of an ability to flag them. Whether the moderators can delete a set, I don’t know.
