There is a cat, with a hat on, and the phrase, "que ta chendo" What does this mean? She is from costa rica. I saw the same question before, and everyone thought it was a misspelling. But, obviously it is not. Can someone help me??

Hah, it is another one of those. When you read this:

que ta chendo

You are actually reading (drumroll please):

¿Qué estás haciendo?

The transformation basically involves:

Qué -> Que -> que

estás -> tás -> ta

haciendo -> aciendo -> achendo -> chendo

So I am going to bet my hat that it says "What are you up to?".

A longer phrase I've seen floating around is "que pasho compadrito que ta chendo", which basically ends up as "¿Qué pasó, compadrito? ¿Qué estás haciendo?" meaning "What's happened, buddy? Whatcha doin'?".

Qué ta chendo

EDIT: Wait, you mentioned another thread about this topic which apparently treated this as a misspelling (the same way as I did). That might mean this answer is wrong :/

I have never seen such complete contractions as this before, Helado you could still be right ;) - FELIZ77, Sep 24, 2014
That was my thought, but I wasn't sure enough to post last night. :) - bosquederoble, Sep 24, 2014
Spanish people are equally, if not more adept at the art of understandable contractions than the English ;) - Helado_eclectico, Sep 24, 2014
Just to be absolutely clear, my statement was stating that my original thought was the same as that of Helado. :) - bosquederoble, Sep 24, 2014
