Hello Vangy,

Welcome to the SpanishDict com smile

The Spanish write it in this way/This is the corect way to write it in Spanish:

¿Cómo te llamas? = What is your name? (Literally: What do you call yourself?)

This is the way to address someone who is younger than you, eg: a child, young person

¿Cómo se llama Ud? = What is your name? This is the way to address someone to ask their name if they are a stranger, someone in authority someone older than you, or just someone to whom you wish to show special respect.

I hope this helps smile

Good answer. Additional point: Llamarse, being pronominal but not reflexive, does not mean "to call oneself", but "to be called/to be named". To call oneself in the literal sense would be "llamar(se/te/me) a (si/ti/mi) mismo". - Helado_eclectico, Sep 22, 2014
"Se llama Roca" does not mean the rock 'calls itself' anything, since it is not really alive. And even if I call myself John... Aunque me llamo a mí mismo John, me llamo Helado. - Helado_eclectico, Sep 22, 2014
