Greetings I put "two plus two equals four" in the Spanish Translation & it came back "Dos y dos son quatro" That might be correct but it seems to me that it is said differently on the streets Somebody can give me a bit of help with that one? Thanks

Dos más dos es igual a cuatro.

Or more naturally:

Dos más dos, igual a cuatro.

Or even:

Dos más dos, cuatro.

or.. dos y dos, cuatro but in English always they say 'equal'? or I can say: two & two are four or two and two, four?(only for sums obviously) - 003e54f5, Aug 23, 2014
Two and two are four, two plus two equals four. Those are my favorites. Two plus two is four also works I think. I would be interested in what other English speakers like as well. - bosquederoble, Aug 23, 2014
Note especially two and two are, two plus two is- singular as it is a sum. - bosquederoble, Aug 23, 2014
so two and two is/are four it's okay no? - 003e54f5, Aug 23, 2014
"so two and two is/are for" is/are okiay, isn't it/aren't they? - yes, both is or are work there for me with and- if you use plus, it must be is. :) - bosquederoble, Aug 23, 2014
I got it, thanks! - 003e54f5, Aug 23, 2014
Not a native, but I have heard "Two and two make four" more times than any of the others suggested here (except, of course, "Two plus two equals four". Could be a regionalism. - Helado_eclectico, Aug 24, 2014
That works for me, although is not what I usually say. I could use make or makes there as well. :) - bosquederoble, Aug 24, 2014

I think I've read 'dos más dos son cuatro' in a Spanish-translated game once. Don't know how accurate that would be.

I have to really think about it now! smile

If I were to explain a math problem, I would say:

Two plus two equals four.

But if I were to just say it, I think it would be:

Two plus two is four.
