intermediate Latin American history book in Spanish

Question

I'm looking for an intermediate level history book (Latin America) in Spanish. Any recommendations? Could be Mexican history, something with overview, main characters, events, etc. I'm past the beginner stage, but certainly no expert. I don't mind looking up a few words every page, but would like to keep a flow going. Preferably this would be something available on a Kindle or at the iTunes store.

And to say thanks, a recommendation from me..... Selected Readings in Easy Spanish by Alvaro Parra Pinto. Translations of various classic works, dumbed down for the beginning / intermediate Spanish student. Available cheap at Amazon.

Here is a link to a brief (about 60 pages) survey of the history of Mexico: Viaje por la historia de México

If you are looking for something with a bit more meat to sink your teeth into, you might try Nueva historia mínima de México ilustrada

I couldn't get those to load. What am I doing wrong? - rac1, Aug 21, 2014

I don't know. They both load fine on my browser (Firefox) - Observer, Aug 21, 2014
