Como se dice "Where are you from" en Espanol?

I'm aware that the most acceptable way of saying "where are you from?" in Spanish is "De donde eres?" as I've been asked that question many times myself. But would it also be proper to say "Eres desde donde?"

The only possible way is ¿De dónde eres? ó ¿De dónde sos?
"Eres desde donde?" would be something like "Are you since where?" don't make sense I think

Sometimes in Mexico we say: ¿De dónde vienes?
But the variant that you already know is the proper way.
