How can I say "I turned sixteen years old last February" in Spanish? Is volver the correct verb for "turn"?

To turn XX years old = cumplir XX años

I turned sixteen years old last February

I think you could say:

Cumplí dieciséis años el febrero pasado.

I do not think volver would work in this sense. I find it hard to explain "turn" in English.

"Turn" is an odd word to use to apply to birthdays, but it sounds natural to native English speakers. I think "cumplir" makes more innate sense than "turn". Each language has its idiosyncracies, I guess. - Esteban3304, Aug 6, 2014
It is not so common here mate either , we would be more than likely to say ,- 'I was' or 'I will be '. On such and such a date. - ray76, Aug 6, 2014
