Goog question, I have been trying to figure it out ever since .. but invain .. hehe .. you can read the chapter on prepositions in the Grammar section of SD or from a good Grammar book and that may give you an insight but a full fledged comand on Spanish prepositions can only be had with thorough practice and interacting with natives.
I can give you some basics though ..
But read this first "Basic Prepositions"
