Why ello, which means "it" in Spanish, is not used too often?

Although Spanish does have a rarely heard pronoun meaning "it," ello, its use is limited mainly to literature, and it isn't used to refer to named objects. - rac1, Jul 30, 2014

Nunca escuché a nadie decir "ello" porque por lo general usamos "eso" o directamente no lo usamos, por ejemplo: it's true: 'es verdad' ó 'eso es verdad' y decir "ello es verdad" suena feo y es difícil pronunciarlo. Sí usamos la palabra "aquello"(those) y "ellos"(they)
