Sabo o conozco?
What is the difference in meanings of the words saber and conocer? When are each used and etc?

From what I have learned working with native speakers:
saber: is to intellectually know something (¿Sabes como manejar?)
conocer: is to know of someone or someplace, to have a personal connection to it (¿La tienda de zapatos, lo conoces?)
Also, I don't think you can say "sabo", it is irregular and turns into "se", but English is my native language, so if I am wrong, its okay for someone to jump in and say so! Just trying to help![]()
Hello Lucy,
Welcome to the SpanishDict forum. ![]()
I think you mean (yo) sé or (yo) conozco
The verbs saber and conocer are both er verbs , that is the endings of both these verbs is er: saber and conocer However, in the first person singular the conjugation is irregular because it involves a spelling change: the c becomes zc before an a or an o. The verb saber is irregular which is why teh 1st person singular is sé =I know.
Basically, the verb saber is used to mean to know a fact or some information..
ex: Disculpe Señora, ¿sabe dónde está la estación de trenes, por favor?
Excuse me, Madam, Do you know where the train /railway station is, please?
Saber can also be used to know how to do something.
ex; Sabe nadar = He knows how to swim.
Conocer is used to mean: to know a person or a place
¡Conoces Madrid muy bien! = You know Madrid very well!
I hope this helps ![]()
