You can also say

"He was home from nine o'clock TO eleven.

This is perfectly acceptable.

Hello Lliones smile

The word until is the same as your Spanish word hasta

the word until in English means up to a certain time in this context

He was at home from nine o´clock until eleven. = Estaba (o estuve) en casa de las 9 hasta las 11.de la noche.

The reason the word Until is used instead of to is because the word until sets a limit to the time the person does something until = (ie) Only up to 11pm (not beyond 11pm!)

I hope this helps smile

Corrijan mi español, por favor smile

What about "hacia" doesn't that also mean until? - Jubilado, Jul 12, 2014
I thought that hacia meant 'towards'. I know that hasta means until, both in terms of time and position. :) - FELIZ77, Jul 12, 2014
Jubilado, I'm not saying you're wrong, I was just not aware that hacia could have /carry that meaning ! :) - FELIZ77, Jul 12, 2014
