Well this will be my second question in less than 15 minutes, but you know... Anyways, take a look at this sentence. "My mother says that going out with my hair wet will harm me" Does this look right? Mi madre dice que salir con mi pelo mojado va a dolerme.

I don't know, it sounds like I wrote it wrong. But then it's the only way I could think to write it....what do you think? Gracias!!! ella

Are you English? In the UK we'd normally say that... 'Going out with wet hair will make me ill.' rather than 'harm me'. That's as bosqueroble has stated below by recommending the use of 'enfermar'. ;-) - pml222, Jul 1, 2014
If you fill out your profile with ability in English and Spanish (fluent, advanced, intermediate, beginner) it is a great help to those trying to help you. Country you live in is also a help. Thank you. - Jubilado, Jul 1, 2014
What is your level of Spanish? Your profile needs to be completed. - rac1, Jul 1, 2014
How do I fill out my profile? - EllaSci4, Jul 1, 2014
You did it. Congratulations. it's a very interesting profile at that. :-) Well done. - 007c5fc1, Jul 1, 2014

What I would come up with:

Mi madre (me) dice que ir afuera con el pelo mojado me (hará daño/enfermará).

I suspect enfermar is the better verb for the true underlying meaning- even though not literal- hacer daño is a little too literal and I am not sure would truly be used in this sense, although I am not sure.

I think "salir con" works though. Húmedo would be another an option for mojado.

I am an intermediate level learner.

Thank you!! This helps a lot. I have no idea why my teacher said "harm me," but I agree with enfermar a lot more. :) - EllaSci4, Jul 1, 2014

This is not an answer. I just want to bump this up in appreciation for your completing your profile and to invite you to continue posting for help or sharing. Always remember to give it you best try or guess if you're asking for help in writing correct Spanish.

You also write English correctly which is important for those who come here to improve their learning of English - none of that "texting" jargon and spelling. Thanks for that!

"profile" Mate you have the same keypad that I have. That was a good point that you made , I thank them now and refuse to give points or answer unless they do fill out their profile ,no commitment - they do not stay. - ray76, Jul 2, 2014
Thanks, Ray, yes I just felt that this was one that went completely the right direction. These letters are really small thanks for the correction! - Jubilado, Jul 2, 2014
