Well done for posting your attempt, to get you started I'd change the first bit. At the moment you have why didn't he/she/it accept you. (I guess the it could be a school or organization?)

But if you want 'they' it should be 'aceptaron'.

Just a couple of points that will hopefully be helpful, firstly, after alegrarse you use 'de' but not with alegrar, that is followed directly by the que.

So ...

• Me alegro de que no te dejes afectar por las opiniones de otras personas.

but

• Me alegra que no te dejes afectar por las opiniones de otras personas.

Also, when you make a subjective statement (eg. es bueno que, es importante que, me alegra ...) and when there's a change of subject between the first and second clauses, the second clause needs to be in the subjunctive mood because you're not 'declaring' that part of the sentence but merely using it do back up the declaration in the first clause.

Me alegra que no te dejes afectar por las opiniones de otras personas.

use affect, which is a transitive verb rather than a noun, to mean "to have an effect on" as in "I knew my opinion would affect his decision, so I deliberately withheld it." Use the word affect when something has an effect on something else.

"I know that moving to Spain will affect my life"

"I know that moving to Spain will have an effect on my life"

effect is a noun, meaning "the result of an event."

In your sentence you should use the verb afectar (to affect) like this:

"Pero, ¿por qué no te aceptó? Me alegra de que no te deja opiniones de otras personas te afectar."
