Regional Variations

Hi, sometimes a dictionary entry will indicate the region or country where a particular word is most commonly used. However, I'm not always able to interpret the abbreviations. Is there a key somewhere that lists them all? Thanks!

There is no one source to find all of the regional variations used. The best you can do is gather a collection of resources to help you.

I recommend these sites as a starting point:

Jerga de Hablar Hispana

Así Hablamos

WordReference

And of course continue read and ask for regional translations here at SpanishDict.

You can also leverage Google by using searches like:

Que significa [word] en [country]

Como se dice [word] en tu pais

Discovering regional translations can often come to Google searches and even perusing forums specific to the country you're trying to find the translation for.

And FYI, many times you will find the translations you are looking for, but the answers will be written in Spanish.

I hope this helps.
