Doubt with the conjunctions and y but.

Hello , I would like you to help me resolve this doubt.
Complete the sentence with "or", "and", "because", or "but".
- Peter has lived in the Carribean for three years,_________ he never wants to move.
I think the best answer is 'and', but I have doubts also. I think it could also be 'but'. I would like your help with this, and please tell me why your answer is the correct one.

Creo que la respuesta es "because" por que si ha vivido hay por 3 años ha de ser por algo.
