Un empresa vs una empresa

Un empresa vs una empresa

I've seen this both ways - and have not seen anything that make it clear. Empresa is (f) yet Pimsleur has is several times as un empresa for 'a company'.

Is this a Latin American difference?

What happens is when "una empresa" is spoken - the 'a' somtimes gets lost (swallowed).

This is similar to "la semana entrante" where the 'A' semana gets dropped when pronounced.

"Empresa is a feminine noun so "una" is appropriate. As we hear it spoken yes it is true the "a" does get swallowed sometimes.

That is what I also think, BUT I see it's frequent use, so there has to be more to the story. - xtronics, Jun 10, 2014
