Carne de Chuco

Carne de Chuco

Do they actually eat "carne de chucho"? in Central America? Is that actually...meat made of puppies? I mean, they can do as they wish, but am I perhaps translating it too literally like we have "hot dogs" that are actually made of beef and pork?

I'm planning on traveling to El Salvador and I don't want to eat puppies:(

Inquiring minds would like to know.

I am from there...and I think that's something I have never eaten in my life. My question is, where did you hear that? I kind of remember a saying about a "chucho no come carne de chucho" I don't know the meaning to be honest.

I have never heard "carne de chucho", but in Mexico Chucho is a nick-name for Jesús.

I was in El Sal the other week! Try some of the pupusas in place of the "carne de chucho"! Haha! MMMMMM!!!!

I went to El Tunco to surf and visit friends. Try to climb Santa Ana if you have time. There is a pretty cool surprise at the top.

I enjoy driving down from Guatemala when I get the chance.

I think there is a fish called ' Cucha'? Just a suggestion!

Otherwise you can always keep going, fueled by guinea pigs, I believe they are very tasty, the Romans took them everywhere..

Okay, well thank you. I have scoured the internet, obviously, and found nothing but song lyrics. I have friends from there that swear up and down its a popular local dish. Of course, I have no idea. I like the fact that this site has people native to latin countries where I can get opinions first hand, and it seems like juanmelgar has never eaten it or heard of 'carne de chucho'. I feel relieved, but I will still turn it down if someone orders me this.....just in case.
