Can someone help me with indirect questions?
I have some questions to go direct to indirect but do not understand how someone can help me. Thank you.
The instruccions: Rewrite as indirect quesionts, using the words in bold.
Can I help you with anything? would / you
Can I check my e-mails on your laptop? do / mind
Dou you want to eat out with us tomorrow night? wondering / if
Does Julio have a driver's license? know / whether
Can you look after my dog for a few minutes? would / mind
Are you free to come over and fix my computer tomorrow night? could / you
The answers I think it would be this:
- Would you like me to help you with anything?
- Do you mind me if check my e-mails on your computer?
- I was wondering if want you to eat out with us tomorrow night?
- You know whether julio did have a driver's license?
- Would you mind if you look after my dog for a few minutes?
- Coul you tell me if you are free to come over and fix my computer tomorrow night?

Ok here's my take, I'm guessing that you are learning English so I hope that I can help you.
Would you like me to help you with anything?
This is good.
Do you mind me if check my e-mails on your computer?
In English we typically say "Do you mind if I ?", and I don't think that I've ever heard "Do you mind me if ?", so you might want to change that.
I was wondering if want you to eat out with us tomorrow night?
This is good except for the question mark, which should be a period. It should be a period because you are not asking a question- you are just making a statement about what you are wondering.
You know whether julio did have a driver's license?
Ok, there are a few mistakes. Firstly, in English, unlike Spanish, we use the word "Do" in many of our questions. For example, in spanish one would say "¿Conoces a Juan?", but in English we say Do you know Juan?. This is one of the hardest concepts about English, so I recommend that you ask your teacher for help on it. Also, I think that this should say " Julio has " because this question is about the present tense. Also, in English, we usually use, "Do you know whether or not ?"
Would you mind if you look after my dog for a few minutes?
This one looks pretty good, although you might want to change "you look" to "looking", but both work.
Coul you tell me if you are free to come over and fix my computer tomorrow night?
This sentence is perfect, but you (I think accidentally) forgot the d in "Could".
Hope this helps.
Ok .. before getting started with your sentences ,, let us first discuss the concept of indirect questions ..
Example of a direct question:Wheres the bathroom?
Indirect questions are a little more formal and polite. We use them when talking to a person we dont know very well, or in professional situations, and their form is a little different.
Example of an indirect question:Could you tell me where the bathroom is?
Phrases for Indirect Questions
Could you tell me
Do you know
I was wondering
Do you have any idea
Id like to know
Would it be possible
Is there any chance
Direct and Indirect Questions in English: Examples
Direct: Where is Market Street?Indirect: Could you tell me where the Market Street is?
In indirect questions with is/are, the verb (is) comes after the subject (Market Street).
Direct What time does the bank open?Indirect: Do you know what time the bank opens?
In indirect questions, we dont use the auxiliary verbs do/does/did. Also, you can see that the verb is open in the direct question, and opens in the indirect question.
Direct: Why did you move to Europe?Indirect: I was wondering why you moved to Europe.Again, there is no auxiliary verb did in the indirect question. In fact, this indirect question isnt even a question its more of a statement that invites the other person to give more information.
Direct: How has he managed to get in shape so quickly?Indirect: Do you have any idea how hes managed to get in shape so quickly? The auxiliary verbs have and has can be used in both the direct and indirect questions but in the direct question, has comes before the subject (he), and in the indirect question, has comes after the subject.
