LightSpeed Spanish Vocabulary Builder

Hola a todos! In my path of learning Spanish, I have the hardest time just "pulling nouns out of the air" when trying to make conversation. Obviously, the best way to learn is to pick up and move to a Spanish-speaking country, but we don't all have that option.

We all prefer different methods of learning and practicing a new language, so this is just another choice if you'd like to give it a shot. I'm trying it right now, and it does help me a bit in learning or reviewing words. These are free audio podcasts, and they also have loads of video-casts on YouTube as well - each about 10 minutes long.

The first audio-cast explains how the method works, and the rest are lists of words with a mental nudge on how to recall the word using a picture in your mind. I keep the translation tool open here on SD so I get the correct spelling of each word. LightSpeed Spanish is geared towards European Spanish rather than Latin-American, but I'm still finding it helpful.

I use it but didn't find the vocab builder. Thanks Findy! Perhaps it will speed up my learning :-) - 007c5fc1, May 31, 2014
I'm on their mailing list and they sent the link to me. I also use their Facebook page, which is a casual way to speak to others in Spanish. :) - Findy, May 31, 2014
Thank you Findy, I haven't hit the link yet, but I will surely give it a shot and will share my feedback later .. hehe // thanks again for sharing the link dear friend .. :) - 00b055e0, Jun 1, 2014
I just finished listening to the first one (the introduction) and it sounds kind of interesting .. the best thing is that I can even listen to it while doing my chores like mopping and cleaning my room .. haha ,,, And I hope that - 00b055e0, Jun 1, 2014
and I hope that it does cover some advanced vocab (as that is what I need for myself ) .. thanks a lot Findy, may God Bless :) - 00b055e0, Jun 1, 2014
Jimmy, I like to take notes while listening - I recall things better if I write them down (at least for the first listen). It's great to learn while cleaning, isn't it? :D - Findy, Jun 4, 2014

Building vocabulary is, in my opinion, the most important part of language acquisition. Without vocabulary when someone talks to you it is just a stream of sounds that you cannot break into words.

Good find Findy. Thanks.

yes I agree my friend, Vocabulary is like bricks(building blocks)and grmmar is the mortar used to join those bricks to make them into a house hehe .. so unless we don't have the right bricks we can't make a beautiful house .. hehe - 00b055e0, Jun 1, 2014

I used to listen to the LightSpeed Spanish podcasts. I never knew about the vocabulary builder ones, though. Thanks for sharing!

De nada, Nikki. I've only done the first two lists, but I think it'll be a big help. I'm fairly creative and appreciate word pictures. :) - Findy, Jun 2, 2014
