Describing things

Question

Hey everyone, I realized I'm not as comfortable as I thought I was describing "things". When I try to explain certain things in my head I'm completely confident what I thought would be correct. Some examples:

If I'm in a store and I say "I want the wide picture frame" how would I say that?

How could I say "This is a thick book"

Things like that

Also, I guess what made me want to post this, was I imagined myself trying to explain an object to someone. Like lets say I'm trying to explain a tool to someone but don't know what its called. Examples: How would I say things like, "It is made out of metal, it is curved at the bottom" or "It is round", "it is square",

For a lot of these words I can just look up myself I suppose to but I would like to know how it looks in a sentence, I guess is my biggest concern.
