If you could be any insect what would it be and why?

Si pudieras ser cualquier insecto ¿cuál sería y por qué?

Since I got some good answers with If you could be any animal... I figured I would do this and see what you could come up with.

Desde que tengo algunas buenas respuestas con Si pudieras ser cualquier animal ... Me imaginé que iba a hacer esto y ver lo que podría ocurrir.

Si pudiera ser cualquier insecto, escogeré la mantis religiosa. Mi razón es que cuando era niño atrapaba las mantises religiosas y ponerlas en mi juala de insectos* para mirarlas porque me facinaba mucho. También atrapaba grillos y alimentarlos a la mantis religiosa hasta que las liberé.

If I could be any insect, I would choose the praying mantis. My reason for that is because when I was young I would catch mantises and put them in my bug cage to watch, as they fascinated me. I would also catch crickets and feed them to the mantises until I set them free.

*Is "juala de insecto" a good way to translate "bug cage"?

If I could be any insect I would choose to be an ant, for various reasons:

(Infact, I would be Adamant! Sorry, I couldn't resist that one!)

1.Pueden trabajar juntos como un equipo ¡aunque parece que no tienen un líder distinto de las abejas!.

They can work together as a team although it appears that they do not have a leader unlike bees!

2 ¡Creo que pueden llevar objetos pesados más de diez veces del peso de su cuerpo!

I believe that they can carry heavy objects more than 10 times their own bodyweight! (I doubt ants have trouble with obesity, I mean have you ever see an overweight ant? (I don't mean Ant from Ant and Dec! he doesn't count las a real insect! lol )

No es muy lógico pero creo que me gustaría ser una mariposa. Son tan bonitas y me gustaría saber si pueden acordarse algo de ser oruga, o no.

It's not very logical, but I think I would like to be a butterfly. They are very beautiful and I would like to know if they can remember anything about being a caterpillar, or not.

Me gustaría ser la mariquita, porque son lindas, colores brillantes, y ayudan en el jardín porque comen muchos pulgónes. (Not sure about the translation of that last word.)

I would like to be a ladybug, because they are pretty, brightly colored, and they help in the garden because they eat many aphids (greenflies).

1.Pueden camuflarlos para que sus enemigos no puedan verlos y atraparlos.

They can camouflage themselves so that their enemies cannot see them and catch them!

2.¡Tienen ojos que pueden funcionar independientemente y que pueden mirar en direcciones opuestas al mismo tiempo!

They have eyes that can can function independently and can look in opposite directions at the same!

3,Tienen lenguas muy largas para atrapar las moscas y otros insectos que le gustan comer. No tengo tan entusiasmo con respeto a esta habilidad ...Me pregunto ¿Por qué! jajaja

They have very long tongues that can catch (trap) flies and other insects, I don't have as much enthusiasm with respect to this skill...I wonder why?! Hahaha

If I could be an insect, I would be a Kaiser-i-Hind swallowtail from Nepal. Their striking colors are totally amazing. I love how they remind me of a tiger hiding in the foliage of an Asian forest.
