How many countries speak Spanish?

I counted. There are twenty Spanish-speaking countries in the map that Ian Hill referred to. The truth is that a large number of people speak Spanish in some other countries, for example, the United States of America. It's also true that Spanish is the first language for those people, but they are minorities compared to the total population.

That's why it is important to ask if this is about a country's official language or first lnaguge. Else, I would say that Spanish is spoken all over the world. ;-D - chileno, May 21, 2014
