"Me too" .. A common grammatical error we all make hehe :)

Question

Almost all of us .. even the natives of English Language make this error "Me Too"...

Lets examine the following conversation between two guys Jimmy and Leo..

Jimmy : I love you ........... Leo : Me too

Jimmy : I would do any thing for you.......... Leo : Me too

Jimmy : I will pray for you............ Leo : Me too ..

ok now .. prima facie (at the first glance) it does look a normal and a grammatically sound conversation Right ?? But guess what .... it is not .....

Even most natives (almost every one who speaks English : native or non native) makes this error and so much so that if we speak it the correct way we might fear sounding weird or strange ...

Now if this is not correct .. what then is the correct way ..

Well the correct way is to say : I too ... because me is an object pronoun and is only used to denote direct and indirect objects .. but in this short sentence the so called "me" is not replacing an object, it is rather denoting the subject of the sentence "I" and thus we need to use the subject pronoun .. for example .. like I can't say "him too" (because like me, him is also an object pronoun used for 3rd person singular) and I will have to say "he too" (he being the subject pronoun" and i cant say "them too" (because them is also an object pronoun).. like wise .. saying "me too" is a grammatical blunder but strangely it is used across the globe by most English Speakers .. So most of the times I try to use the correct one "I too" but at times just because of the fear of being laughed at, I deliberately chose to use the incorrect version "me too".... hehehe .. I hope you all find this post interesting .. please share your views

Moral of the Story : So the Moral of the story is .. that you may continue using "me too" among the masses but when in the presence of erudite and grammar conscious beings like myself ,, you might be better of using the grammatically correct version .. hehe

I don´t think Jimmy has shown disrespect toward anyone by saying ignorant masses.

The amount of poorly spoken English among natives does amount to masses and the word ignorant means without knowledge, which is not the same as stupid.

If someone points out my ignorance of something, I am grateful for the edification.

So what? - languages change over time.

No need to make it even more confusing for those trying to learn English.

English in not a logical language it was never "designed" - it developed with many inputs and things from many other languages.

Many things are not "correct" - so if I say "that is my bad" it is incorrect but used all the time, "that is my mistake" is correct. but as I have said "so what?" I never say it.
