Hello everyone. I thought this might be helpful to some of you. I was looking through my PowerPoints for my Spanish class. So here is a tip to remembering what adverbial conjunctions always use the subjunctive after. smile Please add your thoughts, comments, corrections, or additions.

ALWAYS use with the subjunctive

Acronym ESCAPA

En caso de que … in case

Sin que … without, unless

Con tal (de) que … provided that

Antes (de) que … before

Para que (a fin de que) … so that, in order that

A menos que … unless

ALWAYS use with the indicative

Ahora que … now that, since

Desde que … since

Porque … because

Sorry but "porque" it can be used with subjuntive or indicativo.

Voy a España porque quiero aprender español. Indicativo No voy a España porque quiera aprender español sino porque quiero visitar a mi familia. Subjuntivo

Hope this helps. You can find useful Spanish tips in my website (it's a Spanish school online with a section with Spanish tips)
