"hamaca"as meaning "swings"
This isn't so much a question as it is something interesting to share. I'm in Buenos Aires visiting, and I was in a park with my cousin who lives here. We were looking at some swings on the playground and I asked her what the word for "swings" is. She said the word is "hamaca." But, I said, "hamaca" is something else, you know, the thing you attach to 2 trees to relax in. She said, no, that would be a "hamaca Paraguaya."

@ jimmy. The type of swing that Ron is referring to is like the picture I posted. There are different variations, but they all serve the same purpose.
It can be a sun-chair as well, of the type you lie down in. This is a rather luxurious version.
La hamaca is the hanging bed like thing usually made of ropes warped together in a net like construction which is strung with and hung between the trees and is called a hammock in English .. but I am not too sure as to what are you exactly referring to by the word swing .. could you share a photo please (of the swing) ..
If u are talking about this oscilation joy ride (as shown in actor girl's foto) then this is called el columpio ..but may be in buenos aires they call it differently .. as u mentioned ..
