It means more or less "in advance", but it is not used in the same grammatical contexts. Besides, you will almost always find it with prepositions, usually "con [amount of time] de".
- Tienes que sacar las entradas con un mes de antelación.
You've got to buy your tickets one month in advance.
Avísame con bastante tiempo de antelación.
Let me know in good time.
