While in Bolivia I was often asked -
"Can you invite me a cigarrette?"
It took me a while before I realised why they were asking me in that "odd" way.
Te invito a una cerveza (u otra cosa) is used the same as Te disparo una cerveza (u otra cosa) but the former term should include a. I have seen it used without a but it´s not gramatically correct.

This is how they ask for something here in Baja as well. I find it a bit strange but I have learned to except it.
¿Me invitas unas cervezas? Will you buy me a few beers? Will you pay for the beers?
